Why Use Young Living Essential Oils?

Why use Young Living Essential Oils?
This question seems perfectly legit.  Read on to find out why!younglivinglogo
I'm by no means a scientist but maybe I can shed some light on this matter and  a few personal thoughts as well. As I mentioned in a prior post, I was a big skeptic.  I'd watched my daughter use YL Oils for quite some time.  We poked fun at her and enjoyed the laugh.  Over time we saw things that were simply amazing, things that we just couldn't explain.  We didn't get it but we were slowly leaning toward something that would forever change our lives.

Some of this might be a little lengthy but please bear with me.  I'm sure that upon reading you'll have a little better understanding of why it's right for me and could be right for you too!

Young Living Essential Oil’s Seed to Seal™ Process

Learn What it Takes to Create One Bottle of Young Living®Essential Oil

Strict attention to detail—from the seeds sown to the plants harvested—ensures that the oils you obtain from Young Living are the purest, most potent essential oils available. This precise, detailed method is known as the Seed to Seal process.

Seed to Seal is Young Living's way of authenticating our essential oils and protecting nature's living energy in every bottle.

Young Living's authentic essential oils capture the pure energy of the plant. This energy has proven therapeutic properties that can help move you to a life of wellness, purpose, and abundance.  Seed to Seal is Young Living's way of authenticating our essential oils and protecting nature's living energy in every bottle

Young Living's oils are more effective than others on the market due to our strict quality-control process. From the moment the first seed is sown until the oil is sealed in the bottle, the Seed to Seal process ensures our oils deliver expected results.

SEED  Powerful, effective essential oils come from seeds and plants that are verified for their essential oil potential by Young Living experts, partnering with university experts.

CULTIVATE  Young Living farms, located around the globe, are dedicated to perfecting the best growing and harvesting methods. Our experts also travel the world visiting our co-op farms to verify that their growing and cultivating processes match our high standards. These operations provide an ongoing source for essential oils that meet Young Living’s demanding quality standards.

DISTILL  Combining ancient and modern techniques, Young Living is recognized as an innovator in essential oil distillation. We use a gentle, proprietary technique for steam extracting the most effective essential oils, as well as using cold pressing and resin tapping methods for select oils.
TEST Young Living never accepts diluted, cut, or adulterated oils. To guarantee consistent quality, our oils are tested in Young Living’s own internal labs, as well as in third-party facilities, to ensure that they meet stringent specifications, exceed international standards, and contain the optimal levels of natural bioactive compounds.
SEAL Young Living completes the Seed to Seal process in its 107,000-square-foot facility in Spanish Fork, Utah. Using state-of-the-art equipment, each essential oil is carefully bottled into protective amber glass bottles—ready to be shipped to members worldwide.

Ok, so if you read all of that you might be asking what the heck all of that means. Here's another quick thought to ponder.

Only 2% of essential oils sold in North America are suitable for medicinal purposes, and Young Living makes 98% of them!  The reason Young Living’s oils are so different is a result of their strict, detailed method for producing the oils to obtain the purest, ‘un-messed-with’ plant essences.  Young Living calls this their Seed to Seal process, where every step from planting to bottling is detailed and controlled.    (Information from the Young Living website)

The Problem With Other Oils

The vast majority of other essential oils are extracted using high heat, high pressure, and chemical solvents.  Although the final product may still contain the aroma of the plant, these harsh processing methods destroy the therapeutic qualities of the oils.  Using lesser-quality oils for therapeutic purposes is never recommended and can be extremely toxic.
Another problem is that there are currently no standards when it comes to labeling a bottle of essential oil.  If a bottle of oil contains just 5% essential oil, by law it can be labeled as 100% Pure Essential Oil!
So if you see labels like ‘Organic’, ’100% Pure’, or ‘All Natural’ on a bottle of oil at the health food store, you still have no way of knowing the quality of the oil.  Especially if that bottle is $8 or $12, it has more than likely been mass produced very cheaply, with very little attention to the way it was processed.  In a cheap bottle of oil, the therapeutic compounds have been destroyed by the heat, pressure, and/or chemical solvents.
It would be great if in the future there will be labeling regulations for essential oils.  The FDA has actually asked Gary Young (founder of Young Living) to help set standards for essential oil labeling because of his expertise!
If you're like me, you may find this impressive... over 50 hospitals exclusively use the Young Living Brand, including the prestigious Cleveland Clinic.  See what the co-chair of Integrative Therapies at Cleveland Clinic had to say:
We would never even entertain the idea of using any other essential oil in our hospital. Young Living Essential Oils not only provide us with the level of quality we expect, but they are always consistent in their formulation so we are assured of the best possible outcomes for our patients.

These reasons are good enough in my book to use the Young Living brand!  If medical professionals in prestigious hospitals, believe there is a significant difference in the quality and properties of Young Living oils compared to other brands, then I feel quite confident in my decision to do so as well.
So....there you have it!  I hope if you've had any questions at all they've been answered and you're as confident as I am.  If you haven't tried them yet, start with one bottle.  Let's talk about the needs of your family and find just one bottle to start with.  From there you can make a more educated choice on proceeding.
